8. There's a 7 character limit for now. Missing any activity check will result in removal of the character and having to re-apply for the character.



9. Activity is this in the least; One narrative thread or active tagging in a thread at least once a month in "cretaceous" OR two first person journal entries atleast 50 words. Short two sentence posts in "cretaceousmedia" will not be accepted.



10. All characters must have a PB (played-by) that resembles the comic book equivalent. In other words, on the taken page the two pictures should look just a little bit alike. If your character has an odd trait like green skin or purple hair or no face - and you are unable to photoshop/find icons or pictures on your own, please contact a mod and we will gladly help you.



11. Canon-ism, -ocity? -ness? Whatever. Being canon with your character.. Look if you totally kill the character and are practically punching the muse in the face with every tag, you'll be relieved of it. This will not be the mods decision alone but voted upon by unbiased outside roleplayers.



12. Slash. As long as it's arguably canon. (And by that we mean there are clear signs in canon that you can find in the excerpt/book.) Same goes for incest and rape.



13. Sex. Intercourse. Doing the dirty. Matress mambo. Getting your jollies. Playing doctor. -- Use warnings either in the original post or in the subject line of a tag when the clothes start coming off. Otherwise you get a lovely little warning from the mod journal to ruin the moment. Pregnancies are allowed but no they cannot last a week. Three months real-time at the minimum - unless it's canon for it to be insanely quick.

15. Please try and use spell check on your posts. This is very helpful and IJ comes with a spellcheck, we know that typos sometimes cannot be helped, but try and check them as best as you can before submitting.



16. PLOT -- whether it's crack or in-depth. There must be logical reason and it must be believable. For example; (Super Mario Brothers) Luigi & Mario opening up a strip club with under-age dancers while smuggling in exotic animals overseas.. Completely wrong and just, no. Denied. You NEED a reason. Preferably a good one and not 'Because he/she felt like it.' -- In addition, depending on the vote by the players, there will be plots pre-set for random characters throughout the RP.

17. If your application is neither accepted or declined in five days; you haven't set up the required information in your journal and will remain pending til the task is done/fixed.



18. These rules are subject to change/be added to at any point it seems necessary. In the case they are changed, a mod post will be made in notification.

Do you accept Original Characters?
No, there are enough characters in the DC/Marvel universes to be able to find a character that you can play.


What's a Skrull?
Extraterrestrial, undetectable, shapeshifters that are naturally green skinned, and reptilian humanoids. They're from the Andromeda Galaxy and possess highly advanced technology. You can read more about them here - and no, you do not have to have read the Marvel story-arc Secret Invasion to be a part of this game.


When/Where is this taking place?
The game is taking place in the Cretaceous period of Earth, where the continents are in the middle of dividing. It's in real time as in, January 1st is in-game January 1st. Because of the obvious setting change, the game is AU however the characters are not.

How do the journals come into play?
Designed and networked by some of the very first to arrive [Blue Beetle & Husk.] All journal entries are public unless marked private. Journal names → are the characters actual journal names. Just like how we have it on Insanejournal; the journals are accessible through the message board, so characters can click on their username and go to their journal.


What is cretaceousmedia for? And how does it work?
It is an extension of their journals and should be used as an in-character public message board. As well as a place where emails/phone-calls/texts and packages should be posted — "Filtered to ____;" or "Email/Call/Text to ____;" should be put in the subject line if it is not for the public. Please keep in mind that quite a few characters have the ability to hack, thus in order to ABSOLUTELY filter something from everyone but a specific character or group, just put "Secured to ____"

In regards to how the message board part of cretaceousmedia works - as the characters they are able to see THIS! And then the comments appear like THIS! No names but screennames are shown, however if they sign their names in their journals within public entries, people CAN discover who they are.


My character has the ability to teleport/time travel. Can they still teleport/time travel or is that affected by the Skrulls?
Yes they may still teleport - just not through time. If they teleport, they are bound to the current time period. Those that can time travel or manipulate time, may only do so to the point of their arrival. So if they tried going ahead to 2009, they'd find themselves at the same point they were when the arrived to Cretaceous - and alternatively, they're able to travel back to the present point they previously inhabited in-game. Time cannot be stopped in Cretaceous - slowed down, yes, but completely stopped? No.


So New York City is just in the middle of some vast jungle — and the only things that don't work normally are clocks?
Yes! They mysteriously still have electricity/running water. Spooky.


Wait exactly what is their situation - like what's the setting and stuff?
It's New York City, in it's same place on the continent of what would be America some millions of years later. On Monday, July 20, 2009 there was an earthquake lasting 22minutes before the city of New York was ripped from its very foundation. Anyone in the city on that day, was transported back to the Cretaceous Period. Heroes from all over the globe flocked to the site to help with the catastrophe - and as they started to appear, the began to disappear. Unfortunately they were the only ones to notice as they were instantly replaced with their Skrull counterparts. On Wednesday July 22, 2009, Skrulls were starting to replace more and more heroes, villains, and even citizens of importance. They started to take from different time periods, and even realities. Now, they are stuck in the city, surrounded by jungle (though the harbor is there, as well as the Statue Of Liberty) with thousands upon thousands of panicking citizens..

They've got a message board, and are able to text and email, so can people access the internet/social networks and can Deadpool watch his Golden Girls reruns on tv? Also, how is that all able to work since they're in the Cretaceous Period?
Social networking is restricted to just those who are in Cretaceous. However, they're able to ACCESS the internet normally, but cannot post to anyone/any website that is based "outside." Television is entirely just, static channels - though anything on DVD obviously still works and is accessable. — And it's a mystery. Even we don't know.


If a character dies in Cretaceous, are they gone for good?
Yes, and no. If you feel the need to have your character kick the bucket? There are two choices, that you hopefully have made up before killing them off. Due to the wide variety of characters, there are a number with abilities who could bring others back from the dead. They'd simply be, alive-again, with consequences that are based on the resurrection method. However if you choose to leave them dead as a doornail, then yes, they will remain so and be listed as unavailable. We ask that you please run it by us if you are planning to do the latter.


Are we allowed to bring in other versions of characters already played?
Like Jay Garrick/Flash, Barry Allen/Flash, Wally West/Flash, Bart Allen/Impulse or the many Green Lanterns? Yes! We encourage it! Having the different generations is completely acceptable! However we don't accept clones or AU versions. IE: the many many Gwen Stacy's or Amazing Spider-Man and Spectacular Spider-Man.


Can I use a PB for a character if it's already in use?
Yes, these are two different fandoms. But no, the same faces, even if there are only two of them, would not be allowed in game. It it easier to keep track of people this way. The only definite exception to this rule is Deadpool/Wade Wilson w/ Ryan Reynolds - because Deadpool is currently breaking down the fourth wall one brick at a time and usually always in costume unless he uses his image inducer.


If I pick up a character that another player dropped, do I have to keep their storylines?
Canon storylines must be kept in game - however if you are uncomfortable with the in-game storylines that have developed you may choose to take the character from an earlier point in canon. This can be justified by saying the Skrulls re-collected and distributed the character in error.
